Bamboo and Camomile Tea is a Herbal Tea Blend. The flowery addition is famous around the world due to its well-documented ability to improve sleep. The other ingredient has become increasingly popular in recent years because it promotes hair, skin and nail health.
They taste great, too, particularly when combined, boasting a floral, grassy, and herbaceous fusion of flavour.
Ingredients in Bamboo and Camomile Tea
Bamboo belongs to a diverse group of evergreen perennial flowering plants in the subfamily, Bambusoideae. This, in turn, is a member of the grass family, Poaceae. One of its most noteworthy qualities is that it is extraordinarily fast-growing.
Indeed, some varieties have the capacity to grow 910mm (36 inches) within 24 hours at a rate of almost 40mm (1½ inch) an hour.
Camomile is nevertheless the better known of the two – or at least in the world of Herbal Tea. It belongs to the Asteraceae (daisy) family, within which there are two widespread varieties: Roman Camomile (Chamaemelum nobile) and German Camomile (Chamomilla recutita).
Both types make for delicious and health beneficial infusions. Add Bamboo to the mix and you have a match made in heaven.
Does Bamboo and Camomile Tea Have Caffeine?
This wholesome blend contains no leaves from the Camellia sinensis (Tea) plant, meaning it isn’t a “Tea” in the conventional sense.
Only sixty plants contain caffeine, and neither Bamboo nor Camomile is within the group, making the combination 100% void of the stimulant. Should you be looking to cut down your intake, then, you’ve chosen exceptionally well here.
How to Make Bamboo and Camomile Tea
1, Add Loose Tea to a Tea Infuser.
2, Place the Tea-filled accessory in a cup or mug.
3, Pour water boiled to 100°C over the leaves and flowers.
4, Allow it to steep for 5-10 minutes.
How to Serve: Consider honey or lemon. Alternatively, serve without additions.
Tasting Notes: Imparts sweet, herbaceous notes with grassy undertones.
Benefits of Bamboo and Camomile Tea
Numerous vitamins, minerals and other antioxidants exist in this Herbal Tea. These can combat free radicals in the body, the product of natural, though often harmful, human oxidation.
The result is a reduced risk of developing several chronic conditions from type-2 diabetes to cardiovascular disease and even, potentially, cancer. Yet the benefits of Bamboo and Camomile Tea can offer more. Much more.
A 2011 study published in the Journal of European Neuropsychopharmacology found that the Camomile Tea Benefits have a considerable influence on sleeping patterns.
Its phytochemicals affect neurotransmitters in the brain – specifically, monoamine transmitters such as serotonin and dopamine. They also work with GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) receptors in the central nervous system to promote a state of calmness.
Bamboo, meanwhile, can, among other qualities, promote healthy hair, skin and nails; strengthen bones and teeth; and even help you to lose weight.
It reportedly boosts the metabolism of fat cells, enabling the body to burn fat quicker and more efficiently. This then leads to periods of exercise producing better, perhaps even more noticeable, results. What more could you want from your cuppa?
